Abstract

The article examines the main factors influencing the development of today’s eschatological attitudes in Russia — the Russian “eschatological tradition”; a certain disorientation of some believers in matters of church doctrine; the activity of “leaders of eschatological opinions” and the wide availability of any materials on eschatological topics. All these factors, to one degree or another, shape the current eschatological agenda in Russia. Their interrelation determines the “eschatological infrastructure” that maintains a certain tension around the theme of the “end of the world” among some Orthodox believers.
