Abstract

The proposed review is devoted to a new book by Professor A.M. Kamchatnov, Head of the Department of General Linguistics of Moscow Pedagogical State University, presented as a textbook addressed to students, undergraduates and postgraduates of philological faculties of universities and pedagogical universities. The review notes the persuasiveness of the way the author justifies the scientific, pedagogical and general cultural significance of historical word formation as a science, as well as the need to create a historical and word-formation dictionary of the Russian language.
