Abstract

On April 13, 2022, scientific and practical theological conference in honour of the St. Joseph Volotsky (with international participation) was held at Sretensky Theological Academy. The conference was organized by the Patrological Research Scientific Center of the Theology Department of Sretensky Theological Academy named after prof. A.I. Sidorov and the Commission for the rehabilitation of persons who have fallen away from Orthodoxy, under the Diocesan Council of Moscow. The conference included one plenary session, three sections, which considered the issues of training anti-sectarian missionaries; methodology and methods for the rehabilitation of persons who have fallen away from Orthodoxy; and history, doctrine, criticism of modern sectarianism and the occult. The rite of reconciliation with the Church, developed in the diocese of Moscow more than 25 years ago, was presented at the conference; this rite is addressed to those who fell away from the Church. The only structure in the Russian Orthodox Church for the rehabilitation of those who have fallen away from the Church into sectarianism and occultism at the level of the diocese was also presented.
