Abstract

The history of the Church of the Annunciation in the Moscow Kremlin’s Zhitny Dvor, its architecture and shrines have not been thoroughly studied for more than 120 years, during which many unknown data from the period already described before the XX century were clarified, a lot of new material appeared about this destroyed temple and about its preserved shrine — the miraculous icon of the Mother of God, called “Unexpected Joy“. The collected and generalized new information from scientific publications, memoirs and archival sources is presented in a systematic presentation and illustrated in this article.
