Abstract

The lives and witness of several Hieromartyrs who suffered and died  for Christ and His Church and who were glorified as New Martyrs and  Confessors of the Russian Orthodox Church, are closely related to the  history of St. Pimen the Great Church in Moscow. It was here that they  served faithfully before the throne of God in the years of theomachy and  persecution against the Orthodox faith and believers. Their loyalty to Christ  and Church was confirmed by their martyrdom. St. Pimen the Great Parish  treasures the sacred memories of Hieromartyr Arkadiy (Ostalskiy), Bishop of  Bezhetsk, who conducted Divine service here many times, and of the clerics  of the church, the holy Priest-martyrs Vladimir Sokolov (1883-1940), Ioann  Plekhanov (1879-1937) and Aleksiy Protopopov (1880-1938). The article  analyses the available archive materials, contemporary evidence and new  publications devoted to the lives and acts of faith of these Holy Men of God  as well as the data on their commemoration at the place of their ministry.
