Abstract

In one of his last articles ready to be published, Alexey Ivanovich Sidorov, Professor of the Moscow Theological Academy discusses the life, work, and views of the two founders of Monophysitism — Severus of Antioch And Philoxenus of Mabbug placing them into a wide historical context of the complicated dogmatic situation of the time. This essay, based on the reference to both Russian and foreign studies, provides an idea of «the other side of the barricades» of the then persisting dogmatic controversy between the supporters and opponents of the Council of Chalcedon in the Byzantine Empire of the V–VI century.
