Abstract

The readers are off ered the excerpts from the diary entries of prof. A. D. Belyaev, from which new information about the personality of archbishop Nikon (Rozhdestvensky) can be gleaned. From these entries we can learn new information about the biography of archbishop Nikon when he was the treasurer of the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra. So, in particular, his charitable activities, the publication of the Trinity Leafl ets, as well as the controversy with professors of MThA on a need for social service for monastics are highlighted. From the diaries and letters of archbishop Nikon (Rozhdestvensky) to A. D. Belyaev, we can say that they were bound by the ties of friendship as like-minded people on the issue of social and state structure during the turbulent revolutionary events of the early XX century.
