Abstract

The article briefl y describes the activities of Metropolitan Macarius and Patriarch Nikon, demonstrating elements of commonality in their writings. In the Appendix the article applies to the publication of the charter sent by Metropolitan Makarius in Aleksin with the resolutions of the One hundred heads council of 1551 and the charter to Metropolitan Nikon of Novgorod on the recitation of the Psalter in the church, preserved in a manuscript dating to the middle of the XVIIth century.
