The impact of saint Ephrem’s methodology on saint Isaac the Syrian

Abstract

The article attempts to discover the impact of ancient Syrian tradition (St. Ephrem the Syrian) on saint Isaac the Syrian. It shows the parallels of quotations, allusions, and some aspects of exegesis. It is the first time in the scientific area when the quotations from the «Commentary on the Diatessaron» by saint Isaac the Syrian are noted. Besides it, one treatise included in the corpus of «Ephraem Graecus» entitled «De mansionibus beatis» (Περί των μακαρίων μονών) is identified with the attribution of saint Isaac the Syrian.
