Abstract

Professor’s Ivan Koenig article presents a historical review and theological analysis of use of Holy Scripture in literature and ascetic practice in Early Egyptian Monasticism of IV–V centuries. The author shows different influences between monastic ascesis and theology of Incarnation, spiritual action, meditation on the text of Holy Scripture, of its allegorical interpretation and theology of Name.
