The article describes the personality, life’s journey and the activity of famous Russian monastic worker of the XIX century, the church scientist Archimandrite Leonid (Kavelin) (1822–1891) — the religious advisor of Archbishop Nikon (Rozhdestvensky). Special attention is paid to the ministry of Archimandrite Leonid (Kavelin) as the vicar of the Holy Trinity — St. Sergius Lavra and to his communication with famous contemporaries.
