«Memoirs» of Archbishop Nikon (Rozhdestvensky) — diary entries of his youth

Abstract

The paper presents «Pamyatnye zapiski» («Memorable notes») of Archbishop Nikon (Rozhdestvensky), that he kept from 1866 to 1873. The scope of this paper concentrates on the reason for the appearance of these diary entries when at Pererva Theo logical School and the motivation for keeping them when already attending Moscow Theological Seminary. It’s not supposed merely to give a brief overview of the contents of «Pamyat nye zapiski», citing some passages, but also to show great value of these diary entries’ childhood and youth memories for Archbishop Nikon’s own sake.
