Abstract

Jean-Claude Larchet is one of the most notable living orthodox theologian and patrologist. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Nancy and a PhD in theology from the University of Strasbourg. J.-C. Larchet is the author of thirty books and quantity articles in several scientific journals. His works have been translated
into eighteen languages. In his article the author speaks of the importance and necessity to refer to the heritage of the St. Church Fathers for a genuine Orthodox
theological research, observing a set of principles that prevent the theologian from making known errors which the author also points out. The text of the article has
been written as a report at the International scientific and theological conference “The problems of methodology of theological and patristic research” held at the Sretensky
theological seminary on 17/05/2019.
